Transmitter molecules soon diffuse from the channel which then closes.
Depolarization of the presynaptic nerve ending releases vesicles containing
the transmitter molecules. On this animation no vesicles are shown. Transmitter
binds to the channel which oscillates between open and closed states.
This channel opens because special transmitter molecules (acetylcholine) bind
