This animation shows the possible origin of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) from the outer cell membrane. Start iy by a mouse click on the button "anim"! The solid "cell" becomes a wireframe mesh so that we can see inside. Then the only a narrow band of the cell membrane is shown.
