Cerci
A pair of cerci protruding from the abdomen of the cricket represent represent in the first place a useful alarm device for the attacks from behind. If a frog wants to eat the cricket and approaches it from behind, then in the moment of attack the frog's protruding tongue makes wind. This wind excites the cercal hairs and through very fast nervous connections an escape response is triggered.
